€46,883 funding secured for development of Food Tourism across County Wexford
Following on from the success of the Enniscorthy Food Tourism initiative including the development of the Rockin’ Food Festival, O Connell Marketing Ltd and Wexford County Council submitted a comprehensive plan to expand the agri food tourism offering in County Wexford through a programme of events, training, promotions and marketing.
Mr Michael Creed, the Minister for Agriculture Food and Marine announced the six projects that will receive funding this year from his Department under the Rural Innovations and Development Fund, for initiatives to promote and develop agri-food tourism in rural areas.
The Funding will go to the following Initiatives:
O Connell Marketing Ltd on behalf of Wexford Co Council – €46,883
Astec Global Consultancy – Agri Food Tourism Experiences – €44,060
Carlow County Council – Food Trail Development Project – €47,950
Donegal County Council = ISLE (Islands Sustainable Living & Education Tourism – €49,250
Kilkenny County Council – #tastekilkenny Phase 2 – €40,250
Waterford City and County Council – Food, The Waterford Way – €49,000

The County Wexford Food Tourism plan will be lead by Jean O Connell of O Connell Marketing Ltd, Liz Hore, District Manager, Enniscorthy Municipal District, Wexford County Council,
Siobhan O Neill from Visit Wexford and Anthony O Toole, private chef, food consultant and one of Fáilte Ireland’s Food Champions, representing Ireland’s Ancient East, working with a number of groups including Wexford Local Enterprise, Wexford Food Family, local food producers and food tourism businesses across the County.

The roll out of County Wexford Food Tourism plan is ideal timing with so many incredible food producers, products, festivals and food tourism venues ready to get involved to ensure that County Wexford becomes a recognised food tourism destination to visit. Wexford food producers have just won a sweep of awards at The Irish Food Awards 2017 “Blas Na hÉireann” which took place in Dingle on 30th September 2017“. Wexford Winners include:
