At O’Connell Marketing we care about the impact that our business has on the environment. We are also in a position to lead and influence many others to make small changes which make a big difference. These are some of our actions that we undertake as a team, we are very focused on protecting the environment but also looking after our team, clients and community.
Directly reducing print costs by 850% internally and using reusable and recycling materials like our wooden crates in Taste Wexford hampers and changing to eco-friendly packaging. Sourcing and introducing recycling and eCard options to the Go Anywhere Gift Card for Irelandhotels.com
As part of our projects we always include sustainability opportunities which are often beyond our brief. Leading and encouraging large groups to work together to build a sustainable destination and communities.
We were involved in developing a Green Festival Programme for Taste Wexford by Wexford Co Council which was a key initiative for Wexford Co Council to highlight that they are leading the way in to reducing waste We were delighted to be part of Discover Kerry when last year County Kerry was ranked in 13th place in the Global Destination Sustainability Index
Wellness is an integral part of how we work, we promote a healthy work life balance for our team with remote working and hybrid working arrangements. We also offer flexible working hours and support each other as a team if anyone needs to take time out. With our little HQ in Bunclody, in County Wexford on the foot of beautiful mount Leinster surrounded by trails, river walks and beaches we encourage daily walks with our office dog. With remote working in place with our team in Kildare, Kerry, Dublin, Carlow, Laois, Armagh and London we encourage our team to take the time out to get plenty of fresh air doing what they love, some examples Caroline enjoys horse riding, Mary sun swimming in Banna Beach, Dee river walks and Jean walking Porter on the beautiful beaches of Kerry.
Jean and the O’Connell Marketing team are active and engaged community members who participate in many community and charity projects. Jean, a proud Kerry woman living in Wexford loves to see both business and the tourism destinations develop both within Ireland and internationally. As part of her business, Jean annually commits a minimum of 10% of her professional time to contributing to mentoring, advisory and capacity building to sustainable groups and not-for-profit organisations on a pro bono basis.
Internships and Graduate Development Programme
Jean is a “not so recent” graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) and is delighted to see O’Connell Marketing in the top 50 companies and employers in The WIT Careers Development Centre and to have been personally involved in the recent Career & Employment Summit.
With four interns and graduates in recent years who were offered internships in our expanding team, two are now vital and valued members of our team and our first intern was with us 4 years and is now jet setting in Canada.
Our four interns have come from Tralee, Waterford, Carlow and Tipperary and currently three of our interns are working remotely with individual mentors and are receiving real marketing agency experience before they return in January for their final year.
We invest time in giving our interns the best possible work experience to start off their career. We take the time to plan, train and mentor and of course recognise and reward talent.
